Milford Public Schools has developed a política de bem-estar that focuses on improving the health of their students. The message being conveyed puts emphasis on the importance of nutrition and fitness. The policy was developed by the health and wellness advisory council that includes the district food service director, teachers, parents, administrators, and the school nurse. Milford Public Schools believe that good nutrition and learning go hand in hand. Their programa de nutrição maintains a vision to provide excellent, balanced and nourishing meals to their community and the staff that leads them. The mission of the food and nutrition staff is to support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

On April 3, 2023, Framingham State University student Dietitian, Laurie Richards-Farnsworth, provided a nutrition lesson to kindergarten students at Brookside Elementary. She spoke to the students about what it means to make healthy food choices, and which five food groups make up MyPlate. Students were given a diagram of MyPlate and asked to say their favorite food from each of the five food groups. The students participated in an activity that involved coloring a taco and a banana using the colors from each food group from MyPlate. After the coloring activity, students were able to name all five food groups as well as a food from each group. Laurie explained that it is important to add each of these food groups to their plate each day because it creates strong, healthy bodies and minds.
