The Milton School District is dedicated to creating a school environment that fosters the health and well-being of all children by promoting wellness, proper nutrition, and regular physical activity through the implementation of their Политика оздоровления . The goal of the Milton School Nutrition Department is to promote healthy habits that will last a lifetime. To support a healthy environment where children learn about and participate in positive dietary and lifestyle practices, Milton Public Schools teamed up with Framingham State University’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics to bring nutrition education into their classrooms.

FSU student dietitian, Alyssa Alimonos, teaches Milton 2nd graders how to eat the rainbow.

On April 3rd, 2023, student Dietitian, Alyssa Alimonos taught 2nd grade students at Glover Elementary School how to eat a rainbow for a healthy body and mind.

During the lesson, students learned that fruits and vegetables have special nutrients called vitamins and minerals that help their body stay healthy. Students played a hands-on activity where they were split into four groups based on colors, and took turns presenting examples of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple fruits and vegetables. During the activity, they discovered that fruits and vegetables of each color benefit different body parts, such as the brain, eyes, heart, bones, and teeth. By the end of the lesson, students were able to identify the importance of eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables every day.
