Meet the Coalition

The Massachusetts School Wellness Coalition is a group of dedicated stakeholders that help to drive the SWITCH movement across the Commonwealth, creating opportunities for schools to advance wellness in the classroom and the community. Learn more about our partnerships below.

The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke.  

BOKS (Build our Kids Success) is a free physical activity program designed to get kids of all ages and abilities active and establish a lifelong commitment to health and fitness.

The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition uses current research and technology to educate and inform Massachusetts professionals concerned with child nutrition and healthy nutrition environments.

The Child Nutrition Programs administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education plays a critical role in ensuring that all children are ready to learn by supporting nutritious meal service in schools, day care centers, family day care homes, residential child care institutions, and summer feeding programs.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health partners with multiple organizations and communities to provide programs, services, and resources that promote and protect health and wellness in schools.

The Massachusetts Health Council leads a broad group of stakeholders to foster a strong culture of health in Massachusetts. We promote policies and programs that enable healthier lifestyles, wellness, and preventative care so all people and their communities can thrive.

As the single largest child advocacy organization in the United States, PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. Membership in PTA is open to anyone who wants to be involved and make a difference for the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

New England Dairy is a non-profit education organization. Through Fuel Up to Play 60, our wellness program in partnership with the NFL, we engage students to promote increased access to healthy eating and physical activity in schools.

The School Nutrition Association (SNA) of Massachusetts is a state affiliate of the School Nutrition Association. SNA brings information, services and continuing education to school food service professionals in Massachusetts.

The UMass Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP) provides individuals, families, and communities with the knowledge and skills for healthier eating through research-based nutrition education that helps low-income individuals and families make the most of their limited food resources.
