The Milford Public School District is committed to promoting health and wellness along with, the ability to learn by encouraging healthy eating, nutrition education, and physical activity outlined in their Wellness Policy. The Food and Nutrition Department demonstrates their dedication to this commitment by serving balanced meals and executing nutrition education as well as sports and fitness initiatives throughout the school district. This kind of education, specifically aimed at school-aged children, provides students with critical knowledge and skills necessary to care for their bodies appropriately, thereby reducing their risk of chronic diseases later in life.

Claire Hickling teaches Milford kindergarteners about physical activity

On April 1, 2024, Framingham State University student dietitian Claire Hickling spent time with second grade students at Milford Memorial Elementary School. She talked about the importance of physical activity. The majority of the time was spent having the students think critically about specific examples of how they are active every day and overcoming some of the challenges that can get in the way. Students then played a game of charades in which they acted out some of their favorite ways to be active. All of the students had so much fun learning about the benefits of physical activity for their health and wellbeing!
